Biodiversity Ireland
Issue 18 Autumn/Winter 2018
The latest issue of the National Biodiversity Data Centre’s biannual newsletter, is available to download now!
Along with some exciting project news stories, catch up on some of the more recent events which the Data Centre had the pleasure of hosting and being a part of including the Global Biodiversity Information Facility’s visit to Ireland, the Local Authority Pollinator Awards, and the Deloitte sponsored DatSci Awards where the National Biodiversity Data Centre proudly scooped a top award for the “Best Use of Data to achieve Social Impact” which was announced at a special ceremony held in Croke Park, Dublin, on September 7th, attended by over 300 data scientists and industry representatives.
Readers can also enjoy a detailed insight into “Ireland’s wintering geese“, a Biodiversity Beginners article kindly provided bird expert Eric Dempsey which profiles each of our visiting geese to Ireland before Dr. Neil Reid explains the importance of submitting hare sightings to the Hare Survey of Ireland 2017-2019.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Biodiversity Ireland Issue without our Biodiversity Tales, summarising all the latest recording news, insight and observations across the sphere of biological recording in Ireland.
A big thanks to all who contributed to our Autumn/Winter 2018 Issue of Biodiversity Ireland.
