Dragonfly and Damselfly Identification Course in Northern Ireland

As part of Dragonfly Ireland 2019-2024, our colleagues at the Centre for Environmental Data and Recording are running a workshop at Brackagh Bog in Co. Armagh on Wednesday 24th July.

Location: Oxford Island

Site visit: Brackagh Bog

Mr Robert Thompson will introduce us to the species of Dragonflies and Damselflies found in Ireland.

We will look at features used to identify them and what resources are available to help. Introduction at Education Room, Discovery Centre, Oxford Island. Meeting at 9.30 for 10am start.

After the Introduction, we will visit the nearby Brackagh Bog to find species to identify.

This course is open to adults with an interest in Dragonfly biodiversity and recording.

All levels of species identification experience are welcome.

Suitable clothing and footwear for outdoor fieldwork is essential. Bring along your net if you have one.
Please bring a packed lunch as we will be out in the field most of the day.
