Festival of Farmland Biodiversity Events

. Throughout the month, we will be holding various events to promote more positive engagement around farmland biodiversity.

The National Biodiversity Data Centre is hosting a month-long (virtual) Festival of Farmland Biodiversity for May 2022. The Festival of Farmland Biodiversity will focus on challenges to addressing the biodiversity crisis across much of the farmed landscape in Ireland

Farmer Competition - Biodiversity Audit

Win a complete biodiversity survey of your farm. To enter please share a picture or tell us what action you have taken on your farm to help protect biodiversity. If posting on social media please use #FarmlandBiodiversity. You can also email your entry to farmland@biodiversityireland.ie.

School Competition for swatches

1st-31st May

Win a complete set of the National Biodiversity Data Centre Identification Swatches for your class or school. Winner announced on the 2nd of June. To enter please share a picture biodiversity and your school name. If posting on social media please use #FarmlandBiodiversity. You can also email your entry to farmland@biodiversityireland.ie.

Farming for Nature farm walks

15th – 29th  May

“These farm walks are an opportunity for our Farming for Nature farmers to showcase their contribution to nature and good farming practices on their land. They are a great opportunity to meet likeminded farmers and to gain an insight into the creative and inspiring ways that farmers can incorporate, protect and enhance nature on their land.” – Farming for Nature

“The National Rural Network are hosting a webinar with a focus on the seasonal actions that will benefit pollinators on farmland. This event is in support of the National Biodiversity Data Centres’ Farmland Festival which runs for the month of May. The focus of the festival is to highlight the challenges to addressing the biodiversity crisis across much of the farmed landscape in Ireland.”
