Declan Quigley
Senior Port Officer with the Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority
Prior to joining the Sea Fisheries Protection Authority (SFPA) during 2003, Declan was involved in the salmon farming industry for 25 years, initially with the Salmon Research Trust of Ireland (Newport, Co Mayo), and subsequently in the commercial sector in Ireland, Scotland and Norway. Declan is a founding director of Dingle Oceanworld, a public marine aquarium established in 1996, and is currently Managing Director of Salmo Salar Ltd., a company involved with the management of salmon conservation in the River Erne system. Over the last 40 years Declan has published 385 scientific papers, primarily about the biodiversity of Ireland’s marine fishes.
